Last night Garratt and I got a babysitter for Faith, went out for dinner alone (what a concept) and then went to a movie night at our church.
The movie: FIREPROOF.
The movie was done by: The producers and creators of the movie "Facing the Giants"
The Background of the movie: At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighters adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules.
Growing up, Catherine Holt always dreamed of marrying a loving, brave firefighter...just like her daddy. Now, after seven years of marriage, Catherine wonders when she stopped being "good enough" for her husband.
Regular arguments over jobs, finances, housework, and outside interests have readied them both to move on to something with more sparks.
As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment: "The Love Dare." Wondering if it's even worth the effort, Caleb agrees-for his father's sake more than for his marriage. When Caleb discovers the book's daily challenges are tied into his parents' new found faith, his already limited interest is further dampened.
While trying to stay true to his promise, Caleb becomes frustrated time and again. He finally asks his father, "How am I supposed to show love to somebody who constantly rejects me?"
When his father explains that this is the love Christ shows to us, Caleb makes a life-changing commitment to love God. And with God's help he begins to understand what it means to truly love his wife.
But is it too late to fireproof his marriage? His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb Holt is ready to face his toughest job ever...rescuing his wife's heart.
My Review: A great movie. Garratt and I both loved it. It is really a movie for all but I would ENCOURAGE ANY COUPLES to watch it. It really gives you an understanding as to what True Love should be and how to respect and love your spouse. Garratt and I already decided that this is a movie we want to own. We also want to read the "LOVE DARE" (watch the movie for more information on that) and I want to read the book about the movie, I just like reading books that have movies with them it sometimes gives you another perspective. This is a great movie for couples who are struggling in their marriage, who are going through a tough time or even those who have fallen into the "routine" of life and have let their marriage fall to the back burner. Garratt and I have been through and continue to go through a lot lately and the one thing that we have is communication, but I think that this movie was still an inspiration to us not to forget to remind the other half how we feel about them and do something nice for them, no matter how small. I will say this again...I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!! It is very real and very well done.
